What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise method which uses controlled, focused movements. These movements strengthen and lengthen the muscles, increasing flexibility and mobility.

Particular emphisis is given to the "core" muscles which support and protect the spine facilitating movement in our daily lives.

Through focusing the mind on the movement and breath, Pilates gives a sense of well being and increases mind body awareness.

With regular practise your body will become more able to deal with the stresses of everyday life.


What is Swiss/Stability Ball Pilates?

This entails using a large exercise ball to perform Pilates based movements. The ball gives you an unstable base, which means that the deep abdominals (core) are recruited in almost every exercise. An exercise ball adds variety and challenge to Pilates movements, improving your balance, core stability, back health, posture and overall body tone and fitness.
